Twitter is a wonderful tool for getting targeted traffic, but there are few helpful guides out there that show you how to find a seriously targeted lead, which you can target not only by demographic, but by the interests that they have. If you have tried expensive software for this, then you will no doubt have realized that it is not an exact science, and you are using the same features as most free websites or tools.
One of the best free tools out there is Tweetdeck. The best way to use
Tweetdeck for your followers is to load up the main window, and enter a search. Always put your search term in quotes, so you are not getting the words as a broad match in the tweet. Let’s say you are trying to plug a golfing niche website, and you are looking to find people who are avid golfers. The first thing you would do is perform a search for the type of tweet a golfer would make. So you wouldn’t be searching for a very broad term like “golf tips”, because very few people would say “i need some golf tips lol”. You need to get creative, and get into the mind of the Twitter user. If you were going to play a round of golf today, and you were tweeting about it, what would you write? Also, when you had finished said round of golf, what would you write?
When you start getting into the thought process of the visitor you want, it is quite easy to turn them into fantastic visitors, who will sign up for your newsletters, and click your ads. Anyway, now we have found some people who are tweeting about actually playing golf, you can follow them. Once you follow them, it’s a good idea to slowly reply to their tweets, without targeting your actual website. Simply respond to a few tweets, and get into a discussion flow. Then later, you can start adding links to your golf site.
